The former Lyric Theater, a 1918 movie house, the State Theatre has gone through many transformations, in name, program, and otherwise. This latest renovation completes the theater's transformation into a multi-use performance space. The principal users of the State Theatre will be the Traverse Symphony Orchestra and Interlochen Art Center, but it is designed to accommodate touring companies, live theater, and dance. The adjacent Kurtz Building will be annexed to enlarge the theater's main lobby, add a balcony lobby, and house dressing rooms, rehearsal space, and offices.

Number of seats: 529.
Location: Traverse City, Michigan.
