This ersatz log cabin, originally built from a kit mimicking a post-war suburban split-level, was turned into a more authentic log home. The original house lacked character, natural light, views and a hearth. Renovations include a battered river rock chimney and seven sets of French doors. A new family room opens to the 3.5 acre lot on three sides and replaces the attached two-car garage. The two-story living room is dominated by a massive river rock fireplace flanked by French doors. A new light-filled dining room in the style of Carl Larsson, also opens to the landscape on three sides. The approach to the house was reoriented to feature the end gable and chimney on the front façade.
