Trinity Christian College Theater Arts

  • Location: Chicago, Illinois
  • Completion: 2008
  • Project size: 40,000 sf

Morris Architects Planners and Wheeler Kearns Architects teamed up to design a new construction full-featured arts building for the Trinity Christian College. The new facility has a completely flexible black box theater and support spaces, classrooms, art studios, and production design offices. The theater spaces are specifically designed to allow state-of-the-art performances to be produced, but also allow for each aspect of the performing arts to be easily taught and incorporate the technology of the theater into the class curricula.

It overlooks a preserved natural ravine that borders the campus. A campus master plan was initiated as the facility design was beginning. The Center’s circulation incorporates the path between the residence halls and the athletic facility to encourage traffic through the art gallery. The building is designed to allow a second phase that will add classrooms, video production suites, and complete the painting and sculpture studios.
